An interesting field of application for piezo is high dynamic excitation. One illustrative example is Diesel fuel injection were injection times of less than 50 μsec are required. This makes up to 6 injections per cylinder cycle possible, improving both the burning process (reduction of NOx) as the performance. Further it shows that piezo meets ‘under the hood’ requirements; at elevated temperature (> 100 oC), high accelerations (> 10.000 m/sec2) and long life time (> 1e9 cycles).
For high dynamic applications like for instance impact testing HEINMADE closely works together with Piezomechanik. For impact testing extremely high accelerations of over 10.000 g, forces of over 25 kN and cycle times of less 1 msec are reached with the right mechanical design and optimized amplifier set-up.
With increasing frequence of motion or cycle step, the required electrical power leads to heat accumalation. Already during the design phase one should consider the cooling aspects or consequences on tolerances with increased temperature. |
